Congratulations to Crossville, which received one of i+s’s first ever Purpose Awards! D&B Tile is proud to work with premier suppliers. For that reason, we wanted to take a moment to commend Crossville, which has been supplying us with stunning wall and floor tiles in Delray Beach and the rest of South Florida. Today, we’ll discuss what the awards are, and then explain why the Shades 2.0 Porcelain Tile Collection is so notable.
What Are the Purpose Awards?
The Purpose Awards were founded with the goal of celebrating companies that embody the Triple Bottom Line:
- People – Workers, customers, and people in the surrounding community are all impacted by the decisions a business makes. The Triple Bottom Line takes all stakeholders into account.
- Planet – Businesses are responsible for the majority of pollution, which means we have a responsibility to reduce emissions and minimize climate change.
- Profit – This is, of course, the traditional bottom line. While it’s still important for businesses to turn a profit, it’s just as important to do so with an understanding of the other two P’s.
Reducing emissions is a major goal for companies focused on the Triple Bottom Line, but often, pursuing the Triple Bottom Line helps companies turn better profits as well. We should all feel good knowing that by pushing the field in a more environmentally friendly direction, companies like Crossville are preserving the earth for future generations to inherit.
Shades 2.0 Porcelain Tile Collection
Crossville won this award because of their new Shades 2.0 Porcelain Tile Collection. The judges made note of its “porcelain tile manufacturing innovations,” which are especially eco-friendly. Crossville calls this their EcoCycle Americana® process. Specifically, these tiles are a “Net Consumer of Waste,” meaning that the waste content used is greater than the amount produced during the process. Just as important, 99.8% of the water it uses is recycled. These tiles are also made in the USA, which decreases the emissions that occur when tile is made in one country and transported to another. Similarly, the tiles themselves are made mostly of materials that can be found within 500 miles of Crossville’s manufacturing centers. Along with being Green Squared Certified, this collection is covered by the EPD, HPD, Declare Label, and sustainability report. This gives customers a clear idea of the environmental impact of this purchase. Even outside of their environmental impact, these tiles are an excellent choice for consumers worried about their health. They’re in line with LEED’s IEQ Credit 4.3, which means that they don’t emit materials that can worsen air quality. They also repel:
Along with that manufacturing process, the tiles themselves look stunning. They’re part of the growing trend of biophilic design, which helps calm people by allowing them to feel closer to nature.
