D&B's Iron Man Award for 2013 was presented to Jose Rodriguez, a warehouseman in the Hollywood store. This award, was named after the legendary Jake Borders who worked for the company for more than 20 years. He was hard-working and capable. To be recognized in that capacity by your peers is an honor not enjoyed by many people.
Jose moved to Florida three years ago from Michigan. He works in the Hollywood location as a warehouse manager and “does a little bit of everything . . . I love what I do. This a great company to work for.”
He previously worked in a warehouse environment for nine years while in Michigan. “Although my background is mostly in the warehouse business, I learn something new about the tile business every day.”
Jose is married to Ruth and has three children. Two live in Michigan with their mother and one is here in South Florida. “My youngest is Anayia and she keeps me moving. My oldest son Jose, Jr. is 17. My middle daughter is Armani. She and Jose, Jr. live in Michigan with their mother.
While in Michigan, Jose enjoyed ice fishing but much prefers saltwater fishing here in Florida.
“I thoroughly enjoy working here at D&B Tile. The company treats us like family members. It's like no other place to work. They constantly teach us new things about the industry and that makes me proud to be part of the team.
Past recipients of the Iron Man Award include David Swain, Eddie Garcia, Ray Ammeraall, Mitch Duncan, Pierre Marcellus, Bill Bullock, Joel Bell and Lyndon Chandler.
