"I started work at D&B four years ago. Prior to that, I worked in the industry while living in the Dominican Republic. I've been in the business for about 10 years. This was my first job in America. I started off as a salesperson in the showroom at the Doral location and was promoted to showroom manager in 2013. This year I was moved to commercial sales. It's been quite a trip.
"Working here is so much different than in the Dominican Republic. There homeowners walked in and bought their own tile. Here at D&B, the process usually begins with an architect or designer who develop a master plan and usually come to the store with the customer to select tile, stone or marble. I enjoy this so much more because it gives me more opportunities to make the sale. In addition, we have a wonderful selection and great people working with us.
"We are seeing a lot of interest in the larger format tiles such as 24x48 as well as the wood look. When I was working in the Doral location, many of our retail customers were not brand conscious. They had a specific look in mind when we met them. That gave us the opportunity to show them a wide range of products from different companies to meet their needs.
"Now in commercial sales, I find that there is a great interest in the Laminam line from Crossville. If I quote ten jobs, seven of them will be for that product. It is very popular at the moment. Everyone seems to love the clean look of the tile.
"On a personal note, I am getting married October 10. I met my future husband here. He is a former employee. I am very happy at D&B. They are a wonderful company to work for. They ask for feedback from their employees. I think I will be here for a very long time."
