According to owner Lai Lam, when it was time to shop for tile for the family's new restaurant in Pembroke Pines, architect Carlos Bravo, AlA, LEED AP simply told her "Go to D&B Tile for the best selection and pricing."
Bravo is Vice President of UrvanX, an architecture and planning firm serving Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
"We visited the Pompano Beach store and were able to see the tile on display. Missy Ford helped us with selection and matching colors. We took photos back to our architect who approved our selections. Actually our first selection was the glass tile border. We liked that so much that we based our entire theme around matching colors for that tile.
"We selected Kertile 32x32 Cross Cut Miel for main floor and Kertile Damasco Copper for the borders. We used Alfagres Red Quarry 12x12 and 6x6 tiles for the kitchen and bathrooms. This is a family-owned business. There were many involved in selecting the tile, but we all agreed on D&B Tile.
"When we began the tile selection process, we weren't brand conscious. Basically we were looking for a color theme which included beige, gold and blue. Missy directed us toward these lines of tiles which gave us the colors and, also the textures we wanted for our restaurant.
"When we planned this restaurant, we wanted an upscale look with modern features and top of the line furnishings. Many of the Chinese restaurants in the area are not as elaborate as this. Our specialty is Dim Sum and everything is fresh. We have nothing frozen. Even our fish, lobsters and crabs are live and selected onsite.
"We are very pleased with the selection, pricing and service from D&B. In fact, we are considering a second location perhaps in the Doral area. When that happens, we will most definitely come back to D&B for our tile."
