Often traveling with their dogs and visiting places with unpaved roads, the family realized that carpet and wood laminate were not the best choices for flooring throughout their unit. According to Harold Yarborough, with
D & B Tile Distributors, “This floor was typical in a lot of RV’s. We had issues with the flooring and wanted to change it to the new luxury vinyl planks that are popular today.
“One of the best sellers in all of our eight locations, the wood look gave us
the style we wanted and fit with the RV interior. This floor is a click system and is not glued down. It prevents any damage from expansion and contraction with the movement of the chassis. The vinyl planks offer good technology and were easy to install. We also put a new backsplash in the
bathroom using Akua. I did all the tear out and installation of both projects. There are many RV’s on the road and many of them need to be updated. Vinyl tile is a more sensible way to go.
“My wife Vikki and I love to travel, so we decided that a motorhome was the
perfect fit for us to travel with our dogs and enjoy visiting any part of the country on our own terms. Our close friends share our enthusiasm for this type of getaway. Often we travel together.
“Seven years ago we bought our first motorhome, this is our second. We travel as often as we can, and find it very relaxing. There are so many places to visit in the state of Florida and never worry about timeshare or hotel reservations. Usually we travel campgrounds to campgrounds, however have been known to layover in a Cracker Barrel or Wal-Mart parking lot.
“We have a major trip planned to travel the length of the Mississippi River this year, from Minnesota to New Orleans. We’ll be traveling with some friends with their RV and will enjoy seeing this part of the United States. Future plans have us traveling to the Canada Maritime area, the U.S.
northeast, the northwest, and possibly even Alaska.
“We typically spend time at Disney during Christmas where our one son
lives and works. So we will stay at Fort Wilderness-Disney’s campground.
“I still enjoy work. D & B Tile Distributors is more than 50 years old and has
a great future. The team we have in place will eventually take over but, at this time, I’m still going to be active and involved in the business.”
